Mary Capasso of Thorofare, NJ passed away Saturday August 26, 2023 at the Woodbury Mews assisted living center. Born in 1919, she was 103 years old. Even though she lived more than a lifetime, she would have stayed much longer if she could. Following her beloved husband Carl's passing in 2015, she continued to live a mostly independent life until suffering a hip fracture a few months ago. Her favorite pastime was ballroom dancing, (only retiring in her 90s) and trips to the Casino. More recently, playing endless games of Rummikub. Earlier in life she ran the highly successful “Gift Shop” in Paulsboro, NJ which she operated for many years into the 1980’s, before retiring. Almost a decade later she went back to work in her son's pharmacy for more than 10 years before retiring again.Predeceased by her parents Liberato and Giovani Cipressi, her husband Carl Sr, her siblings, Esther Meckling, Millie Damiani and Benjamin Cipressi. Mary is survived by her son, Carl J. “Chuckie” and wife Darlene of Thorofare. Grandson, Joseph C. (Lauren) of Fort Myers, Florida, and her great granddaughter Autumn. Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing Thursday August 31, 2023, from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM at the Landolfi Funeral Home of Hammonton, 237 Bellevue Ave., Hammonton, NJ 08037. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 1, 2023 at 10:30 AM at the Holy Angels Parish, St. Patricks Church, 86 Cooper St. Woodbury. Interment will be in the St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Swedesboro. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Bayada at Inspira Hospice, 600 Jessup Rd., Suite 100A, W. Deptford, NJ 08066.
